TaxSahi Assistant — Privacy Policy
Last updated: 4 November 2026
In short
The extension moves a client's AIS and tax-payment details from the income-tax portal into TaxSahi inside your own browser. It does not send this data to our servers or anyone else, does not sell it, does not use it for advertising, and does not track your browsing.
Who we are
TaxSahi and TaxSahi Assistant are published by SimpleApps.World, a sole proprietorship of Gaurav Gupta, India. Contact: support@simpleapps.world.
What the extension does
It helps tax professionals and taxpayers bring information they are already entitled to see into their own tax workspace:
- On the income-tax e-filing portal (eportal.incometax.gov.in), after a fetch started from TaxSahi, it fills the client's PAN on the login page, ticks the secure-access-message box and, if you saved the client's portal password in TaxSahi's encrypted vault, fills it and presses Continue to log in (pressing again, up to three times, when the portal ignores the first press). A wrong or locked password stops it at once. Without a saved password you type it yourself. You enter any OTP yourself.
- It opens e-Pay Tax → Payment History and reads the challan table (CIN, bank reference, assessment year, type, amount, date).
- When you ask for last year's return, it opens e-File → Income Tax Returns → View Filed Returns and downloads that return's JSON, which the portal offers. A small script in the portal page passes a copy of that file to the extension; it reads nothing else on the page.
- On the AIS compliance portal (ais.insight.gov.in), it opens the AIS for the year you are working on and downloads the AIS PDF that the portal offers.
- It hands what it read to the TaxSahi tab (taxsahi.com) open in the same browser, where you review it before anything is added to a return.
- When a fetch is finished it can log you out of the portal (you can turn this off).
It never makes payments, files returns, e-verifies, submits any form other than the login, or changes anything on the portal. The only buttons it presses are the login's Continue, menu and tab links, and the portal's own Download buttons.
Data it handles
| Data | Why | Where it goes | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
| Client's PAN | To fill the portal login page | From the TaxSahi tab to the portal tab, in your browser | Up to 10 minutes, in the browser's session memory; removed when used or when the fetch ends |
| Portal password (authentication information) | To log in to the portal for the fetch you started | From TaxSahi's vault (decrypted in your browser) to the portal's password box | Up to 10 minutes in session memory; handed out once, then deleted. Never written to disk by the extension |
| AIS PDF and figures (personal and financial information) | To fill the return in TaxSahi | From the AIS site to the TaxSahi tab | Up to 10 minutes in session memory if TaxSahi isn't open yet; then deleted |
| Last year's return (ITR JSON: personal and financial information, e.g. address, bank accounts, income) | To fill this year's return in TaxSahi | From the portal tab to the TaxSahi tab | Up to 10 minutes in session memory if TaxSahi isn't open yet; then deleted |
| Challan details (financial information) | To add taxes already paid to the return | From the portal tab to the TaxSahi tab | Up to 10 minutes in session memory if TaxSahi isn't open yet; then deleted |
| Your settings (e.g. "Log out when done") | To remember your choice | Stays in the extension | Until you change it or remove the extension |
"Session memory" is Chrome's chrome.storage.session: it lives in memory only, is not readable by web pages or by the extension's page scripts, and is cleared when the browser closes.
What TaxSahi itself stores (for example the returns you prepare) is covered by TaxSahi's own privacy policy. The extension adds nothing to it beyond what you choose to add after review.
What it does not do
- The extension sends no data to our servers or to any third party.
- No analytics, tracking, advertising or profiling.
- No selling or transferring of data, and no use of it for anything other than the purpose above.
- No access to other websites: it only runs on the income-tax portal (eportal.incometax.gov.in), the AIS site (ais.insight.gov.in) and taxsahi.com.
- Nothing is downloaded and run: all of the extension's code ships inside it, and it makes no network requests of its own.
Permissions and why they're needed
- Side panel — shows what the assistant is doing and lets you cancel.
- Storage — the short-lived session memory described above, and your settings.
- Scripting — reads the Payment History table on the portal page you have open, and refreshes the extension's scripts in an already open portal or TaxSahi tab after an update.
- Site access — eportal.incometax.gov.in and ais.insight.gov.in (to read and fill as described), and taxsahi.com (to hand the data to your workspace).
Your choices
You start every fetch. You can cancel a fetch from the side panel at any time, turn off automatic log-out, and remove the extension from Chrome, which deletes everything it holds. Closing the browser clears its session memory.
Chrome Web Store User Data Policy
The use of information received from Google APIs and from the pages the extension works on adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Changes
If what the extension does with data changes, we will update this page and the date above before releasing that version.
